  COMMENTARIES  LAND AREA

The land area of a place determines how big or how large that particular place is. The surface area of Cambodia is 176,520 square kilometers. This may change throughout the years due to global warming or natural calamities such as typhoons. This could cause the sea level to rise and to cover up land, which will eventually make the land area smaller. The graph shows a comparison between the surface area of Cambodia and the Philippines. It also shows that the Philippines is 123,480 square kilometers bigger than Cambodia. The surface area may affect the citizen’s ways of living if the population goes beyond the space limit of the country. The people living in that country might experience poverty because of the lack of job opportunities and limited resources that could help them. There will be a shortage on belongings or necessities for each citizen. Cambodia’s land area cannot compare to the world’s land area, it comprises a very small part of the earth.

 Forest Area

Many countries are made up of both developed and undeveloped land. Developed land is mostly made out of building, factories, houses, villages and etc. This is a place where most of the citizens of a country live. Majority of these people are in the upper class social status of the country. These are the people who can afford to live in the city and provide income for their family as well. The citizens in the lower class live in houses and areas where they can provide for their own needs such as forests. 52.9 percent or 106,000 square kilometers of Cambodia is made up of forests while 19.4 percent or 71,620 square kilometers of the Philippines is made up of forests. This rate may go down because of deforestation and companies that would want to build factories in those areas. If the government is willing enough to resolve that issue, the rate could also grow. Planting trees and preventing deforestation and illegal loggers can increase the forest area of the country. It will also help lessen pollution in the nation and help the environmental issues that are occurring. Not only should the government contribute to this, but also the citizens of the country.

 Water Consumption

Each country is provided with water resources that are distributed throughout the region. The water is used for drinking, bathing, cleaning and many more. The graph shows that in Cambodia, each person used 35 liters of water every day. And in the Philippines, each person used 50 liters of water a day. This shows that an average person in the Philippines uses 15 more liters than one person does in Cambodia. This can also tell us that maybe Cambodians use their water more wisely. Throwing out unused water or water that can still be used for cleaning are possibly done. Little do people know that water could soon run out if we don’t use it efficiently. There are many people all over the world that use more water than what they need. Preventing this will surely help the economy of the country and the building of a better financial system.

Total Fertility

The graph shows that there are 4.77 births per woman in Cambodia and that there are 3.18 births per woman in the Philippines. Though average people in the Philippines give birth at least 3 times, there are others who bare more children and this could turn out to be a big issue in a country. It is good to be aware of the number of children a woman gives birth to. Having too many children will cause the family to go through many hardships. There are several instances when a family has too many children that they can’t afford to take care of all of them. This will cause some of the children to have more benefits than the other. The family will eventually have their children begging in the streets and searching for food in the garbage can. Every person has to be conscious about the effects of parents having no jobs and families with no money to support all the members.
